2017 BMW X3 Technology Review

bmw technologyWith the right technology, your vehicle can run safer and more comfortably than ever before. The 2017 BMW X3 is packed with cutting-edge technology that's meant to increase performance, safety, and convenience. In this review, our team at BMW of Manhattan will examine the X3's technology for our customers in the Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens areas. That way, when you begin looking for your next vehicle, you'll know exactly what should be included.

Let's start with the many safety technologies in the X3.

Safety and Performance Technology

The most important function of any vehicle's technology is to protect its occupants. The 2017 BMW X3 includes several technology features that increase security and control. First and foremost, the X3 brings you BMW Assist eCall™. Assist eCall™ acts as roadside assistance in the event of a crash, and includes an SOS button and automatic collision notification. With these features, your vehicle will be easy to identify and locate post-crash, due to GPS tracking and automatic hazard light and horn engagement. Emergency responders will be notified almost immediately.

In an effort to reduce fuel consumption, the X3 comes with auto start-stop technology. This feature will automatically turn off your engine whenever the vehicle comes to a complete stop, and will reboot the engine as soon as you hit the gas. Driving Dynamics Control now includes Eco Pro mode, which can improve fuel economy by up to 20%.1 Thanks to these technologies, you can drive safely and smartly, all while increasing fuel efficiency.

Comfort and Convenience

bmw technologyFor driver comfort, advanced vehicle and key memory has been integrated into the 2017 BMW X3. Your vehicle will now intuitively remember your climate control preferences, favored seating adjustments, audio tone settings, and much more. Key memory will recall central-locking and lighting preferences. Auto dimming rearview and side mirrors will reduce nighttime glare and improve visibility. And rain sensing wipers will automatically engage according to the strength of rainfall.

If you enjoy music with your drive, the Hi-Fi sound system in the X3 comes with nine speakers and a 205-watt digital amp. Paired with multicast HD Radio, sound quality will not only be voluminous, but crystal clear, too.

One of the most convenient new technologies included in the BMW X3 is iDrive. The iDrive system includes an onboard computer, controller, and eight programmable memory buttons. Here, drivers can connect to their phones, navigation, or favorite radio stations. They can also make Bluetooth® wireless calls or find the latest traffic reports. All these functions are easy to access through the touch-sensitive interface.

BMW TeleServices is also new to the X3. With TeleServices, drivers will no longer have to worry about keeping track of their car's maintenance schedule, let alone making appointments. Through regular diagnostic tests, TeleServices will not only alert when your vehicle needs service, but it'll transmit this data to your preferred BMW service center. With TeleServices, your vehicle's maintenance will always be up to date.
