Although the 3 Series is a small car, and the 5 Series is a midsize sedan, they both have plenty of space for five passengers. The 3 Series offers 42 inches of front legroom and 35.1 inches of rear legroom. The 5 Series, in comparison, has 41.4 inches of front legroom and 36.5 inches of rear legroom.

And if you need space for shopping bags, luggage, or other items, the 3 Series has a 13 ft3 trunk, while the 5 Series has an 18.7 ft3 trunk.
