Engine Specs and Performance
Both the BMW X1 and the BMW X3 pack in powerful engines and energetic performance. The X1 comes with a 228 horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with plenty of power. The X3 offers two engine options: a 248 horsepower turbo-4 base engine with lively performance; and a thrilling 355 horsepower turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. The X1 comes with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, while the X3 offers rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The X1 and the X3 share sharp steering and nimble handling for a fun driving experience. They also ride comfortably over most road surfaces and exhibit composure in many driving situations. The X3 comes with selectable drive modes to adjust the driving dynamics, along with high ground clearance for light off-roading.
The BMW X1 and BMW X3 offer space for five passengers in comfortable, supportive seats featuring ample headroom and legroom. The rear seats are roomy enough for adults to stretch out and enjoy long drives. Like other BMW models, the X1 and the X3 also share high-end interior accents and a logical layout for convenience.
The X1 has plenty of cargo space, with 27.1 cubic feet of space behind the rear seat and 58.7 cubic feet with the split-folding 40/20/40 seats flat. The X3 has almost 29 cubic feet of space with the seats upright and 63 cubic feet of space with the seats folded down.
Technology and Safety Features
As luxury SUVs, both the X1 and the X3 offer an array of standard technology features and plenty of exciting upgrades. The X1 comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen iDrive infotainment system with Apple CarPlay®, navigation, Bluetooth® connectivity, HD Radio™, and voice commands. The X3 comes with Bluetooth®, a USB port, the iDrive infotainment system, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, and a 12-speaker audio system. Both vehicles offer upgraded infotainment features such as larger touchscreens, a Wi-Fi® hotspot, and premium sound.
For safety, the X1 comes with a Rearview Camera, Parking Sensors, City Collision Mitigation, Forward-Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, Lane-Departure Warning, and Pedestrian Detection. The X3 includes many of these features, but adds Traffic-Sign Recognition and Driver-Drowsiness Monitoring. Both vehicles offer additional safety features for enhanced protection on the road.
