The BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 offer excellent performance. The X1 engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter with 228 horsepower that’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Q3 also features a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine that produces 228 horsepower with an automatic 8-speed transmission. Both vehicles are available in front-wheel and all-wheel drive.
The X1 offers well-weighted steering, strong brakes, poised handling, and a firm suspension system that’s tuned for comfort. An upgraded M Sport suspension system is available for a livelier ride. The Q3 also offers reliable performance and handling, though it caters more to comfort than agility.

For a safer ride, the X1 includes Front and Rear Parking Sensors, a Rearview Camera, Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Detection, Collision Mitigation, Lane-Departure Warning, Automatic High Beams, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Q3 offers a suite of active safety features as upgrades.
